Working through a partner

Built for CRA's accountability rules.

Canadian charities may fund organizations outside Canada as long as they can show the money is used exclusively for charitable activities that further their purposes. We follow the Canada Revenue Agency's guidance on grants to non-qualified donees (CG-032):

  • Risk-based due diligence on our partner before funding
  • A written grant agreement with budget, activities and reporting
  • Staged payments tied to milestones and receipts
  • Regular narrative and financial reporting, reviewed by the board
  • Records kept in Canada and reported on our T3010
  • Much of the work is carried out by us directly: we buy tools ourselves and send our own volunteer experts
